YOU HAVE RIGHTS.
YES, YOU.
(As long as you are a U.S. citizen).
You as an American citizen have rights. The Bill of Rights protects the rights of all Americans, including you. Some of your rights include, but are not limited to:
- FREEDOM OF SPEECH
- FREEDOM OF RELIGION
- FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY
- RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS
1. FREEDOM OF SPEECH:
Under the first amendment on the Bill of Rights, one of your rights is freedom of speech. Freedom of speech means that you are able to speak your mind and form your own opinions without the government silencing you. No law shall be passed to restrict you voicing your opinion. In America, you may voice your opnion without the worry of censorship, retaliation, or legal sanction.
2. FREEDOM OF RELIGION:
Under the first amendment on the Bill of Rights, another one of your guaranteed rights is freedom of religion. Freedom of religion means that there is no national religion and that nobody can tell you what religion to practice or not practice. The government cannot pass any laws making anyone practice a particular religion or outlawing religions as a whole.
3. FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY:
Under the first amendment on the Bill of Rights, another one of your guaranteed rights is freedom to assemble. Freedom of assembly ensures that anyone can meet privately or publicly for any reason. Rallies and marches can advocate for change peacefully and the government cannot stop them.
4. RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS
Under the second amendment on the Bill of Rights, one of your guaranteed rights is the right to bear arms. The right to bear arms means that a citizen can arm themselves in their own home for their own protection. Many people interpret this as a right to own guns, but that isn't exactly what this amendment means.
