YOU, AS A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN, HAVE CIVIL RESPONSIBILITES
(if you are a U.S. citizen).
As a citizen of the United States, you are expected to do some of your civic responsibilities. You are not required to do these things, but it is good to. Some civic responsibilities include:
- Voting
- Being informed
- Respecting and protecting other's rights
- Helping your community
VOTING
Voting as an active citizen is very important. New politicians in your community can make changes that you may or may not agree with. Voting for a good candidate makes a better community for everyone.
BEING INFORMED
Being informed as an active citizen can help you make educated decisions on how to help your community. It is important to get news from all sides of the story and try to be unbiased in your decision making process, especially if it will affect others. Being informed is very important as a member of any community.
RESPECTING AND PROTECTING OTHER'S RIGHTS
Respecting and protecting other people's rights can help protect your own. Being an advocate for marginalized groups can help your community as a whole and help everyone move in harmony together. People rely on other people, and respecting other people can only help you.
HELPING YOUR COMMUNITY
When you help your community, you are making a better living space for you and your peers. If you volunteer or do something else to better your community, it only helps you. If you want change, you can make it happen by helping out around your community.
